Caren Armstrong

ABOUT

Award-winning singer-songwriter Caren Armstrong has been crafting “big, buoyant music” for four decades.  The petite redhead has captivated audiences nationwide with her soaring vocals, sophisticated guitar chops, and dynamic performances.

Known for her dangerous honesty, wicked humor, and disarming vulnerability, Armstrong has “found a deeply original voice that the listener experiences as coming from within.” Her distinctive style blends elements of folk, country, blues, and jazz, creating a sound that is unmistakably her own.

From poignant ballads to sassy, spirited anthems, Armstrong’s songs transcend personal storytelling to speak universally to the humor, outrage, and beauty of the human condition.

In addition to performing solo shows across the United States, Armstrong hosted Celebrating Songwriters, her acclaimed showcase, for 15 years at venues throughout the greater Bay Area.

Strings presents an evening of Award-winning Songwriters with Steve Seskin and Caren Armstrong

Steve Seskin sings in the First-Person Universal. The seven time Grammy winner’s music bridges that sometimes narrow, sometimes enormous gap between country and folk: country ballads blending with folk’s social conscience in much of his work. But then, blending and bringing together seem to be what Seskin is really about. A dynamic performer like no other!

Joshua Zucker joins Caren on bass.
